Nuts Take 2-1 Lead with 6-2 Win
Riding the 2-hit performance of second baseman Matt Downs, the Modesto Nuts stopped the visiting San Jose Giants, 6-2, in Game 3 of the Round 1. Downs was 2-3 with a double and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Nuts, who now lead the best-of-5 series, 2 games to 1.

With two out in the bottom of the seventh, Jimmy Vidito barreled up a sinker from Ryan Briggs. The result was a 3-run home run, putting the Nuts in front, 6-2.

"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Vidito.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at John Thurman Field in Modesto.
