Cleveland (AZL) Guardians won a nail-biting series against the San Francisco (AZL) Giants 3-2, wrapping up the Round 1 finale 13-5 at Scottsdale Stadium.

Guardians catcher Steve Von Bargen was named the series MVP.

He batted .524, drove in 8 runs and scored 8 to lead Cleveland (AZL) into the next round of play.

"Steve was real solid for us, real solid," said Guardians manager Mario Escobar. "I normally say I'd like to have nine of him out there, but thankfully we got by with just one this time."

The Cleveland (AZL) Guardians don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the San Diego (AZL) Padres - Kansas City (AZL) Royals series. That series is tied at 2 games apiece. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes..
