Almost There: Birmingham On Cusp of Round 2 Triumph After 3-1 Win

Their bats were silent and Birmingham had a rookie on the mound. No problem.
On a day when the Barons struggled to string together much offense, the club got a big boost from 22-year-old starter Alejandro Comparan. The right-hander quieted the Biloxi Shuckers at MGM Park to help Birmingham take the 3-1 decision and seize a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Round 2.
Birmingham used the hitting of Ray Anders to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Barons on top, 2-0. For the game, Anders had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"The rain was definitely not preferable," Anders said. "It worked out fine I guess, but we'll be happy if we see the sun next time."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at MGM Park in Biloxi.
