Pelicans Cruise to Round 2 with Sweep
|
The Winston-Salem Dash were simply overmatched by the Myrtle Beach Pelicans in the Round 1.
The end result was a sweep, as Myrtle Beach has cruised to the Round 2, with the final win coming at BB&T Ballpark by a score of 3-1.
"We're clicking and running on all cylinders at the moment," said Travis O'Connor, who was named MVP of the Round 1. "We're a dangerous team when we play like this."
For the series, O'Connor hit .500 with a .538 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, drove in 0 RBI and scored 4 runs.
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Lynchburg Hillcats - Wilmington Blue Rocks series. Lynchburg leads the series 2 games to 0. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
