With first baseman Jonathan Manes leading the charge, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans defeated the visiting Winston-Salem Dash, 10-1, in Game 2 of the Round 1. Manes was 4-5 with 4 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark to help Myrtle Beach force a 1-1 tie in the best-of-5 series.
Manes had a key at-bat in the bottom of the first to put Myrtle Beach in front, 4-0. With the bases loaded, he hit a 2-run single off Winston-Salem pitcher Isaiah Joyner.
"It's true for every sport, I think, but the playoffs are so short that you've just got to get in and get hot," Myrtle Beach manager David Larson told BNN after the win. "We took care of the first part and now we're just working on the second."
The next game is set to be played for Saturday, September 13th , 2110 at BB&T Ballpark in Winston-Salem.
