Cardinals Top Miracle, 5-2, to Begin R1
|
The Palm Beach Cardinals started the Round 1 in style, winning on the road against the Fort Myers Miracle at Hammond Stadium by a score of 5-2 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Cardinals right-hander Mike McKim threw 6.0 innings allowing 2 runs.
Justin McReynolds drove in one run for Palm Beach. In the top of the fourth, with the teams deadlocked, 1-1, McReynolds delivered for the Cardinals. His run-scoring sacrifice fly put Palm Beach on top, 2-1.
"Things broke our way today and that's great," Cardinals manager Greg Cary said. "It's important, though, to stay focused and not pat yourself on the back too much. We aren't done yet."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Hammond Stadium in Ft. Myers.
