Royals Prevail, as Round 1 Goes to the Wire
|
The sweet swing of Josh Washington has led his team through the Round 1.
The Burlington Royals star earned series MVP honors as his club downed the Kingsport Mets to advance to the Round 2.
The Royals won the final game at Burlington Athletic Stadium by a score of 7-0 and the series 3-2.
"I'm seeing the ball well and happy to contribute to a win," said Washington. "I hope it continues for the rest of the playoffs."
For the series, Washington hit .476 with a .458 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 9 RBI and scored 3 runs.
The Burlington Royals will play against the Greeneville Astros in the next round. Greeneville won their series against the San Diego (Rk+) Padres 3 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
