Wilson, Great Lakes Open Round 2 with Win
|
With starter Ted Wilson leading the charge, the Great Lakes Loons defeated the Burlington Bees, 5-1, in Game 1 of the Round 2. The right-hander threw 5.2 innings allowing 1 run at Dow Diamond to help Great Lakes take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Moises Galvez, the Great Lakes shortstop, contributed a bases-clearing double in the bottom of the fifth inning to make the score 3-0, Loons. For the game, Galvez went 1 for 3 with a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
Galvez said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Dow Diamond in Midland.
