Round 1 Game 1 Victory for Archibald and Tri-City
|
When he got to Tri-City, Matt Archibald was just worrying about staying on the roster. Today, he was starring in the Round 1.
The 19-year-old rookie right-hander shut out the visiting West Virginia Black Bears, 1-0, in a remarkable performance at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. With the win, the ValleyCats took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 Round 1.
The ValleyCats liked what they saw from Archibald. The 19-year- old pitcher had a commanding presence on the mound, limiting the Black Bears to no runs on 3 hits over 7.1 innings, and striking out 4.
"We've got a great group of guys," Archibald said, "and we're having fun right now."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium in Troy.
