Great Lakes Takes Round 1 in Deciding Game
The Great Lakes Loons are heading to the Round 2, having narrowly defeated the Lansing Lugnuts.

Great Lakes edged Lansing in the series 3-2, with a win at Cooley Law School Stadium in the clinching game by a 5-1 margin.

Chris Hoover turned in a strong offensive performance for the Loons and got series MVP for his efforts.

"I'll never turn down another trophy for my mantle, another accomplishment to remember once my career is over," he said. "What I would really remember, though, is a Round 2 win."

It remains to be seen how the playoffs will conclude, but if Hoover continues to swing a hot bat, his team will no doubt have a chance.

For the series, he hit .316 with a .364 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, 4 RBI and scored 2 runs.

The Great Lakes Loons will play against the Burlington Bees in the next round. Burlington won their series against the Kane County Cougars 3 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
