Rochester Win Brings Series to 2-1
The Rochester Red Wings have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Syracuse Chiefs, winning, 9-6, at NBT Bank Stadium. Red Wings center fielder Matt Hughes went 3-4 with 3 doubles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. The win cuts the deficit facing the Red Wings to 2-1 in the best-of-5 Round 1.

Hughes had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth to put Rochester in front, 9-4. With the bases loaded, he hit a bases-clearing double off Syracuse pitcher Andres Rangel.

Hughes said the win provided a "big morale boost" for the team. "There's a good feeling in the clubhouse right now."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at NBT Bank Stadium in Syracuse.
