Coward Blasts Giants, Rays Take Game 2, 5-3
|
With right fielder Nick Coward leading the charge, the Princeton Rays got a road win over the San Francisco (Rk+) Giants, 5-3, in Game 2 of the Round 1. Coward was 2-2 with a home run and 2 walks at Ballpark of Anchorage to help Princeton force a 1-1 tie in the best-of-5 series.
In the top of the third, Kyle Dawson delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and the bases loaded, the Princeton third baseman hit a run-scoring single, putting the Rays in front, 5-3.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Princeton manager Rusty Brady. "It's usually not just one thing."
The next game is set to be played for Saturday, September 20th , 2110 at H.P. Hunnicutt Field in Princeton.
