Portland Advances to Round 2
On paper, the Portland Tigers will be credited with a 3-0 sweep of the Seattle (Rk+) Mariners in the Round 1, to advance to the Round 2.

In reality, said starting pitcher Francisco Martinez, it was a lot harder-fought than that might suggest.

"They are a great team and although we won every game, it wasn't easy by any stretch of the imagination," he said.

Portland won the final game by a 3-0 score at Hackers Ballpark.

Martinez earned series MVP honors for the Tigers, with a 0.00 ERA over 8.1 innings pitched. He also had a 1-0 record and 4 strikeouts.
