Detroit (GCL) Breaks Through for First Win in Round 1; Now Trails 2-1

Already down in the Round 1, the Detroit (GCL) Tigers put on their best show, beating the Philadelphia (GCL) Phillies by a final score of 1-0. Alex Olivo was special. He threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. Detroit (GCL) now trails Philadelphia (GCL) 2-1 in the best-of-5 affair.
Olivo was in the zone all game. He frustrated Philadelphia (GCL) hitters while giving the Tigers 6 innings of quality work. Olivo threw 69 pitches, allowing 1 hit and getting 7 punchouts.
"It's a big deal," Olivo said of the win. "If we had gone to 0-3, we're pretty much out of it."
