Matt Helsen picked a good time to have a career day.

In Game 2 of the Round 2, the El Paso Chihuahuas starter dominated the overmatched Memphis Redbirds to help his club move into a 1-1 tie. The right-handed Helsen threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball in the 5-3 victory. Helsen threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball in the win at Southwest University park. The Chihuahuas and Redbirds are playing a best-of-7 series.

Enrique Escobar had a timely hit in the bottom of the fifth inning. With two out and a runner on 2nd, the El Paso shortstop hit a run-scoring single. That put the Chihuahuas in front, 4-3.

"They say the first rule of the playoffs is to win the home games," Escobar said afterward. "It feels nice, but it is kind of what we were supposed to do."

The next game is set to be played for Friday, September 23rd , 2107 at AutoZone Park in Memphis.
