When he got to Lowell, Bryan Demeule was just worrying about staying on the roster. Today, he was starring in the Round 1.

The 23-year-old rookie left-hander shut out the visiting Mahoning Valley Scrappers, 1-0, in a remarkable performance at Edward A. LeLacheur Park. With the win, the Spinners took a 2-0 lead in the best-of-5 Round 1.

Demeule, a native of Rib Mountain, Wisconsin, was dealing all game. He kept Mahoning Valley hitters off-balance, while giving the Spinners 7.1 quality innings. Demeule threw 89 pitches, allowing 2 hits and striking out 5.

"The Spinners earned it," said Mahoning Valley manager Ramiro Tobar. "Hats off to them."

The next game is set to be played for Sunday, September 16th , 2108 at Eastwood Field in Niles.
