The Houston (GCL) Astros and the Tampa Bay (GCL) Rays will take the Round 1 to a decisive 5th game. In a must-win situation today, the Astros beat the Rays 4-2 at Louisville Grounds to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Houston (GCL) designated hitter Doug Fitzsimons went 2-3 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

The Astros took a 4-1 lead in the top of the third inning. Facing Tampa Bay (GCL) hurler Shane Ryan with two outs, Fitzsimons hit a 2-run single.

"The competition leap this year was tough to adjust to and I feel like there has been another jump in the playoffs," said Fitzsimons, a rookie this season. "You're only playing the best now and everyone has time to rest and prepare for you."

The next game is set to be played for Saturday, September 27th , 2098 at Ballpark of Belvedere.
