State College Draws First Blood in Round 2 With 2-0 Win
|
Mario Morales and the State College Spikes opened the Round 2 in brilliant fashion, traveling to Aberdeen and shutting out the host Ironbirds at Ripken Stadium, 2-0, to secure an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Morales, the Spikes right-hander, threw 8.2 innings of shutout ball.
The Ironbirds had their hands full with Morales, who overpowered Aberdeen hitters while racking up 10 strikeouts.
"Our pitching was the difference tonight," Morales said.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen.
