Twins Edge Guardians 3-2 to Open WC
|
The Minnesota Twins faced a tough opponent in Cleveland Guardians pitcher Matt Quint, but did just enough to pull out a win in Game 1 of the Wild Card, which they now lead 1-0. The Twins won 3-2 at Progressive Field, despite the Guardians getting a strong start from right-hander Quint, who went 6.2 innings and allowed 3 runs.
Minnesota used the timely hitting of Joe Looby to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Twins ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
Looby said his team "played with focus."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Target Field in Minneapolis.
