Widby Blasts Blue Jays, Twins Take Game 1, 5-1
The Minnesota Twins started the Division Series in style today, winning on the road against the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre by a score of 5-1 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Twins designated hitter Bill Widby excelled. He went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.

The Twins took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Facing Toronto hurler Jason Hudgins with one out, Widby hit a 2-run home run.

"It's hard to overstate how much this mattered to us, especially in a short series," Minnesota manager Chris Greuling said.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Rogers Centre in Toronto.
