Winston-Salem Draws First Blood in Round 2 With 3-1 Win
The Winston-Salem Dash powered past the hometown Wilmington Blue Rocks, 3-1, in the opener of the Round 2 at Daniel S. Frawley Stadium. Winston-Salem starting pitcher Sam Wells threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, to lead the charge. The Dash now lead the series 1-0.

Winston-Salem used a timely hit from 23-year old third baseman Elias Vargas to get the win. The third baseman delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the sixth inning to put the Dash on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was huge.

"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Wells.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Daniel S. Frawley Stadium in Wilmington.
