Boston Tops Seattle Again, 4-2
|
The Boston Red Sox moved to within one game of the Championship Series today, downing the Seattle Mariners on the road at Safeco Field by a score of 4-2. Red Sox left-hander Jim Bauwens had a strong outing. He threw 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball. The win gives the Red Sox a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Division Series.
Boston relied on the hitting of Sergio Mejia to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Red Sox on top, 4-0. For the game, Mejia had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We'll sip on a cold one and savor this win," said Mejia.
The next game is set to be played for Monday, October 20th , 2098 at Fenway Park in Boston.
