Win Extends Reds Lead to 2-0 Over Royals
|
Despite a great performance by Kansas City (SS-A) third baseman Fred Allday, the Cincinnati (SS-A) Reds defeated the Royals by the score of 4-3 at Stallions Ballpark. Allday slugged 2 home runs, but he could not prevent the Reds from moving one game closer to the Round 2. Cincinnati (SS-A) now leads the Round 1 2-0.
Nick Gillett chipped in a solo home run for Cincinnati (SS-A) in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 1 RBI.
"Ever since we qualified for the playoffs, the guys have been razzing me about how I'm going to embarrass myself out there," the rookie Gillett said with a smile. "I'm glad to prove them wrong, at least for a day."
The next game is set to be played for Tuesday, September 18th , 2108 at Melaleuca Field in Idaho Falls.
