Hops Prevail, as Round 1 Goes to the Wire
The joy and relief on the faces of the Hillsboro Hops players was obvious as they celebrated their Round 1 win over the Eugene Emeralds.

"In a series like this, the smallest thing can make the difference in how it turns out," said Hillsboro first baseman Jordan Vedder, shortly after the 1-0 win that clinched the series 3-2. "We're happy we did what it takes to get it done."

The team is now off to the Round 2.

Vedder won series MVP honors on the strength of his .429 batting average during the series. He also had a .455 on-base percentage and 0 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 2 runs.

The Hillsboro Hops will play against the Chicago A (SS-A) White Sox in the next round. Chicago A (SS-A) won their series against the Spokane Indians 3 games to 0. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
