Twins Edge Red Sox 5-4 to Open CS
|
Boston third baseman Tyler Den Hartog pounded Minnesota Twins pitchers at Fenway Park, but it was not enough to keep the Red Sox from falling, 5-4 in Game 1 of the Championship Series. Den Hartog went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2, though he couldn't keep the Red Sox from slipping to a 1-0 deficit in the best-of-7 series.
Chris Armstrong, the 31-year old catcher , had a direct impact on the outcome. Armstrong contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put Minnesota up, 5-4.
"By the skin of our teeth, man," Armstrong told the Minnesota Herald. "But hey, it still counts. A few more by the skin of our teeth is fine with me."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Fenway Park in Boston.
