Cubs Prevail, as Round 1 Goes to the Wire
The Chicago (Rk+) Cubs are heading to the Round 2, having narrowly defeated the Grand Junction Rockies.

Chicago (Rk+) edged Grand Junction in the series 3-2, with a win at Suplizio Field in the clinching game by a 6-1 margin.

Alex Venecia turned in a strong offensive performance for the Cubs and got series MVP for his efforts.

"I'll never turn down another trophy for my mantle, another accomplishment to remember once my career is over," he said. "What I would really remember, though, is a Round 3 win."

It remains to be seen how the playoffs will conclude, but if Venecia continues to swing a hot bat, his team will no doubt have a chance.

For the series, he hit .500 with a .542 on-base percentage. He had 3 home runs, 6 RBI and scored 6 runs.

The Chicago (Rk+) Cubs will play against the Las Vegas (Rk+) Hustle in the next round. Las Vegas (Rk+) won their series against the Great Falls Voyagers 3 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
