Minnesota (SS-A) Extends Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair
|
Eugene Emeralds manager Valentino Garzelli took a gamble on 20-year-old starter Brian Adams. It paid off, but, unfortunately for the Emeralds, little else did.
Despite getting a poised performance from the young left-hander, the Emeralds lost, 3-1, to the Minnesota (SS-A) Twins at PK Park. With the win, Minnesota (SS-A) took a 2-0 lead in the best-of-5 Round 1.
Minnesota (SS-A) used a timely hit from Danny Aguilar to get the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Twins ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a difference-maker.
"Every loss stings," said Eugene manager Valentino Garzelli. "This one is no exception."
Game 3 is scheduled for Tuesday at Lancaster Grounds in Lancaster.
