The St. Louis (GCL) Cardinals powered past the hometown Baltimore (GCL) Orioles, 4-3, in the opener of the Round 2 at Ed Smith Stadium. St. Louis (GCL) starting pitcher Nate Corbley threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball, to lead the charge. The Cardinals now lead the series 1-0.

St. Louis (GCL) used the timely hitting of Mike Vaughn to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Cardinals on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Really good pitchers have that ability to raise their game when they need to," said St. Louis (GCL) manager Jayden Dunbar.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Wednesday, September 30th , 2111.
