Fireflies Take 3-2 Lead with 6-1 Win
Game 5 was big. So was Ross Pepper.

The Columbia starter rose to the occasion at CMC-NorthEast Stadium, leading the Fireflies to a crucial 6-1 victory over the Kannapolis Intimidators. Pepper threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball as the Fireflies won on the road to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 Round 2.

Jack Machamer helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he hit a 0-1 fastball from Chris Dobson for a run-scoring triple, to give Columbia a 1-0 lead.

"When you are able to locate the ball, good things are going to happen," said Pepper.

Game 6 is scheduled for Friday at Spirit Communications Park in Columbia.
