Royals Beat Orioles, 8-2, to Start R1
|
The Burlington Royals started the Round 1 in style, winning on the road against the Baltimore (Rk+) Orioles at Ballpark of Pearl River by a score of 8-2 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Royals left-hander Santiago Vasquez came in in relief and pitched to 24 batters.
Fernando Ramirez was a prime contributor to the Burlington win. He went 1 for 4. In the top of the sixth with two out, the 21-year old third baseman hit a run-scoring single. It made the score 5-2, in favor of the Royals.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Vasquez.
