Cardinals Tie Series With Flying Tigers After 2-1 Win
|
The Palm Beach Cardinals defeated the Lakeland Flying Tigers, 2-1, in Game 2 of the Round 2. Doing his part was starter Pete Esquivel, who threw 7.0 innings allowing 1 run. The win moves Palm Beach into a 1-1 tie with Lakeland in the series.
Palm Beach third baseman Ben Murphy helped the Cardinals go up, 2-1, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Murphy hit a run-scoring single off Lakeland pitcher Manny Villareal.
"Good ballgame," said Lakeland manager Cesar Santos. "But we came up on the short end."
Game 3 is scheduled for Sunday at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland.
