Tyler Smolak pitched a gem to help the St. Louis (GCL) Cardinals escape with a tight, 1-0 victory over the Baltimore (GCL) Orioles in a low-scoring Round 2 contest. The left-handed Smolak threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball in the win, just enough for the Cardinals on a day when their offense dried up. St. Louis (GCL) now leads the best-of-7 series 3-1.

Baltimore (GCL) could barely put a dent in Smolak. The left-hander tossed 102 pitches over 8 innings for the Cardinals, allowing only 5 hits.

"Tyler just settled in and did what he does," said St. Louis (GCL) manager Jayden Dunbar.
