Wild Card Game 1 Goes to Minnesota, Thanks to Mines
The Minnesota Twins powered past the visiting New York Yankees, 5-1, in the opener of the Wild Card at Target Field. Minnesota starting pitcher Jaden Mines threw 5.0 innings of 4-hit ball, to lead the charge. The Twins now lead the series 1-0.

Peoria, Illinois-born Brock Carson came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with the bases loaded and the Twins trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run single to left to put Minnesota on top.

Minnesota manager Chris Greuling commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Yankee Stadium in New York.
