Almost There: Chicago A (SS-A) On Cusp of R2 Triumph After 6-1 Win
|
The Chicago A (SS-A) White Sox moved to within one game of the Round 3, downing the Vancouver Canadians on the road at Nat Bailey Stadium by a score of 6-1. White Sox right-hander Antonio Diaz had a strong outing. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball. The win gives the White Sox a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Round 2.
Tied up with the Canadians in the top of the fifth inning, the White Sox got a boost from left fielder Aaron Storlie. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Storlie saw a 1-1 cutter from Mike Haws and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Chicago A (SS-A) on top, 2-1.
Chicago A (SS-A) manager Danny Flores commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Nat Bailey Stadium in Vancouver.
