The Memphis Redbirds started the Round 2 in dominant fashion, blowing out the visiting Sacramento River Cats at AutoZone Park by a score of 10-3 and securing an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Redbirds left fielder Preston Vail had a standout performance. He went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 4.

With Memphis leading 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth, Jody Waters hit a 2-run single off Sacramento pitcher Rod Strader. It put the Redbirds ahead 4-1.

"Hopefully history will remember the 2108 Memphis Redbirds as a group of guys who played their hardest and had each other's backs," Waters told reporters.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at AutoZone Park in Memphis.
