The Kansas City (SS-A) Royals and the Vancouver Canadians will take the Round 1 to a decisive 5th game. Facing a must-win situation, the Royals shut out the Canadians, 4-0, at Nat Bailey Stadium to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Kansas City (SS-A) right-hander Mike Sanchez did his part. He threw 6.2 innings of shutout ball.

Sanchez, who was born in Barahona, Dominican Republic, threw 89 pitches over 6.2 innings, while allowing no runs.

"It's about putting our team in the best position to win ballgames," said Sanchez.

Game 5 is scheduled for Friday at Melaleuca Field in Idaho Falls.
