Minnesota (SS-A) Breaks Through for First Win in Round 2; Now Trails 2-1
|
The Minnesota (SS-A) Twins have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Kansas City (SS-A) Royals, winning, 3-2, at Melaleuca Field. Twins left fielder Grant Fitzgerald belted 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. The win cuts the deficit facing the Twins to 2-1 in the best-of-7 Round 2.
With the game tied, 2-2, in the top of the fifth, Fitzgerald had a key at-bat for Minnesota (SS-A). With the bases empty, Fitzgerald hit a solo home run off Kyle Runyon, making the score 3-2, Twins.
"It was a good night for them and a bad night for us," said Kansas City (SS-A) manager Matt Sorenson.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Melaleuca Field in Idaho Falls.
