Round 1 Goes the Distance, Kansas City (SS-A) Prevails
|
In an exciting Round 1 that had its fair share of drama and intrigue, perhaps it is Northwest League fans who have come out the winner.
But on the field, the winners were the Kansas City (SS-A) Royals, who edged the Vancouver Canadians 3-2 to advance to the Round 2.
Kansas City (SS-A) won the final game by a 3-0 count to wrap up the series. Chris Freeman earned series MVP honors, by hitting .294 with a .400 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 2 runs.
The Kansas City (SS-A) Royals will play against the Eugene Emeralds in the next round. Eugene won their series against the Cincinnati (SS-A) Reds 3 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
