Ventura Blasts Phillies, Hustle Take Game 2, 5-1
|
With right fielder Manny Ventura leading the charge, the Las Vegas (GCL) Hustle got a road win over the Philadelphia (GCL) Phillies, 5-1, in Game 2 of the Round 1. Ventura went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once at Bright House Field to help Las Vegas (GCL) force a 1-1 tie in the best-of-5 series.
Las Vegas (GCL) used a clutch at-bat from Victor Gamez to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Hustle ahead, 5-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We're one game closer to our goal," Las Vegas (GCL) manager Elwiin de Lange said later. "It isn't any more complicated than that."
Game 3 is scheduled for Thursday at Roger Dean Stadium.
