Almost There: Eugene On Cusp of R2 Triumph After 5-2 Win
The Eugene Emeralds moved to within one game of the Round 3, downing the Kansas City (SS-A) Royals on the road at Melaleuca Field by a score of 5-2. Emeralds right-hander Nick Lippoldt had a strong outing. He threw 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball. The win gives the Emeralds a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Round 2.

Eugene used the clutch hitting of Mike Orlandi to snag the win. The third baseman drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Emeralds ahead, 5-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.

"I like our moxie," said Emeralds manager David Larson.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Melaleuca Field in Idaho Falls.
