St. Louis (GCL) Breaks Through for First Win in Round 1; Now Trails 2-1
|
The St. Louis (GCL) Cardinals got a strong game from starter Marco Loreto, but it was some clutch hitting that ultimately delivered the win.
The Cardinals took the 4-3 win over the Detroit (GCL) Tigers in Game 3 of the Round 1 in a 9th inning walk-off. The win capped off a fine outing for the right-handed Loreto. Loreto threw 6.2 innings of 2-hit ball in the win, which allowed the Cardinals to narrow their deficit to 1-2 in the best-of-5 series.
The decisive blow was delivered by Marty Perrin in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 19-year old right-handed pitcher Adam Pettit to win the game for St. Louis (GCL). The home crowd went nuts.
"I like our moxie," said Cardinals manager Jayden Dunbar.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Friday, September 27th , 2109.
