The Colorado (GCL) Rockies started the Round 1 in style, downing the visiting Atlanta (GCL) Braves at Mosquitos Ballpark by a score of 10-5 to grab an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Rockies second baseman Bill Peyton went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2.

The Rockies took the lead in the bottom of the fourth. With one out, Kanyon Torrance hit a grand slam home run off Atlanta (GCL) pitcher Wil Martinez, putting Colorado (GCL) in front, 6-1. For the game, Torrance was 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once.

"There was a kid in the stands with a sign that said 'Colorado (GCL) Rockies (probably) 2110 Round 2 Champions'," Peyton told reporters after the game. "I told him, 'Premature, but I like the confidence.'"

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Mosquitos Ballpark in Baton Rouge.
