Hoyt Helps St. Louis (GCL) Take Round 1 Game 1
The St. Louis (GCL) Cardinals started the Round 1 in style, downing the visiting Tampa Bay (GCL) Rays at Roger Dean Stadium by a score of 6-5 to grab an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Cardinals center fielder Bill Hoyt was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.

There was more than one reason the Cardinals beat the Rays, but Hoyt's big at-bat in the bottom of the second was an important factor. He staked his team to a 4-3 lead when he hit a 3-run home run.

"Good, blue-collar kind of win," said Cardinals manager Jayden Dunbar.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Tuesday, September 25th , 2108.
