Blitzed by Rice, Phillies, Yankees Sink Further in R2

Riding the 2-hit performance of right fielder Bill Rice, the Philadelphia (GCL) Phillies stopped the visiting New York A (GCL) Yankees, 9-5, in Game 2 of the Round 2. Rice went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3 for the Phillies, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 0.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Sergio Mendoza came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing New York A (GCL) pitcher Antonio Spratley, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Philadelphia (GCL) on top, 6-5.
"I felt good up there," said Mendoza. "I saw the ball well."
The next game is set to be played for Tuesday, October 2nd , 2114 at Timberwolves Stadium.
