Fisher Cats Win by Slim Margin, 2-1
|
Richmond pitcher Mario Correa gave the Fisher Cats all they could handle, but in the end, New Hampshire left The Diamond with a win, 2-1. Correa allowed 1 run on 2 hits over 7 innings. Cornelius Cathey got the win, improving to 1-0. He worked 7 innings, giving up 1 run on 7 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 0. New Hampshire, now 3-0, is setting the league on fire so far.
Jorge Iglesias came through with a big-time hit for New Hampshire. The shortstop smacked a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Clutch hitting plus clutch pitching usually equals a win," said Iglesias.
