Fightin Phils Upend Sea Dogs, 7-3
Though the conditions were not ideal, the Reading Fightin Phils and Portland Sea Dogs came back from a rain delay to finish their game.

Despite a great performance by Portland second baseman Jonathan Laboy, the Reading Fightin Phils defeated the Sea Dogs by the score of 7-3 at Hadlock Field. Laboy was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times. Stephen Anders, the winner, is now 2-12. He struck out 6 and walked 3 over 7 innings, while allowing 3 runs on 6 hits. Picking up the save was 25-year old right-handed pitcher Miguel Mota.

Reading took a 6-1 lead on Carlos Ruiz's 5th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Ruiz hit in the top of the eighth, left Portland pitcher Donovan Scott visibly frustrated.

"I just tried to make good contact," said Ruiz.

The victory makes Reading 40-96.
