Flying Squirrels Deal Fightin Phils 3-1 Setback
|
Richmond designated hitter Josh Layne contributed to his team's 3-1 win over the Reading Fightin Phils. Layne, who is tied for 6th in the EL in stolen bases with 4, went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Flying Squirrels. Reliever Max Camarena picked up the win. His record improves to 1-2. Daniel Jenney took the loss. Jules Hickman was credited with the save for Richmond, his 8th of the season.
Richmond took control in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, Craig Knopp hit a run-scoring double to make it 2-1, Flying Squirrels.
After the game, Layne told the Richmond Herald, "Like I've always said, the challenge is what makes this game worth playing."
The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Richmond.
