Nick Hall and the Columbus Clippers opened the Round 1 in brilliant fashion today, shutting out the visiting Lehigh Valley IronPigs at Huntington Park 9-0 and securing an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Hall, the Clippers left-hander, threw 8 innings of shutout ball.

Hall allowed no runs over 8.2 innings. He also racked up 11 strikeouts.

"Nick had electric stuff," said Columbus manager Joe Vaught.

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Huntington Park. Slated to start are Justin Reavis for Lehigh Valley and Ramon Jimenez for Columbus.
