Round 1 Game 1 Goes to Tri-City Thanks to Richard
|
The Tri-City ValleyCats started the Round 1 in style today, downing the visiting Mahoning Valley Scrappers at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium by a score of 5-3 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. ValleyCats shortstop Zack Richard went 2 for 3 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
Richard had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third to put Tri-City in front, 5-0. With the bases loaded, he hit a 2-run double.
"It was a good effort all around," said Richard.
Game 2 is set to be played tomorrow at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium in Troy. Slated to start are Philip Beggs for Mahoning Valley and Jonathan Hall for Tri-City.
