Blitzed by Greer, ValleyCats, Scrappers Sink Further in R1
Riding the 2-hit performance of first baseman Eric Greer, the Tri-City ValleyCats stopped the visiting Mahoning Valley Scrappers, 8-4, in Game 2 of the Round 1 today. Greer was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the ValleyCats, who now lead the best-of-5 series, 2 games to 0.

A defensive miscue in the bottom of the fourth cost the Scrappers. With Tri-City trailing 4-3, Zack Richard reached on an error by the 2B, driving in 1 run. Tri-City ended up winning the ballgame.

"We came out aggressive," said ValleyCats manager Tim Ahern. "We came out swinging the bats."

The next game is scheduled for Sunday at Eastwood Field in Niles. Slated to start are Jonathan Hall for the Tri-City ValleyCats and William Cruz for the the Mahoning Valley Scrappers.
