Almost There: Texas (AZL) On Cusp of R2 Triumph After 9-5 Win
|
Riding the 4-hit performance of catcher Steve Curnell, the Texas (AZL) Rangers got a road win against the Oakland (AZL) Athletics, 9-5, in Game 4 of the Round 2 today. Curnell belted 3 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring three times for the Rangers, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 3 games to 1.
Texas (AZL) used the timely hitting of Josh Chambers to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Rangers ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Greg Blosser said.
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Papago Park Sports Facility. The scheduled starters for the game are Rusty Stone for Texas (AZL) and Nate Watson for Oakland (AZL).
