RoughRiders Prevail, as Round 1 Goes to the Wire
The Frisco RoughRiders are heading to the Round 2, having narrowly defeated the Corpus Christi Hooks.

Frisco edged Corpus Christi in the series 3-2, with a win at Whataburger Field in the clinching game by a 6-2 margin.

Rick Church turned in a strong offensive performance for the RoughRiders and got series MVP for his efforts.

"I'll never turn down another trophy for my mantle, another accomplishment to remember once my career is over," he said. "What I would really remember, though, is a Round 2 win."

It remains to be seen how the playoffs will conclude, but if Church continues to swing a hot bat, his team will no doubt have a chance.

For the series, he hit .600 with a .600 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, 6 RBI and scored 4 runs.

The Frisco RoughRiders don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Arkansas Travelers - Tulsa Drillers series. That series is tied at 2 games apiece. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.\n
