Rochester Takes Round 1 in Deciding Game
|
The joy and relief on the faces of the Rochester Red Wings players was obvious as they celebrated their Round 1 win over the Indianapolis Indians.
"In a series like this, the smallest thing can make the difference in how it turns out," said Rochester first baseman Jason Sloan, shortly after the 5-2 win that clinched the series 3-2. "We're happy we did what it takes to get it done."
The team is now off to the Round 2.
Sloan won series MVP honors on the strength of his .450 batting average during the series. He also had a .450 on-base percentage and 1 home runs, drove in 5 RBI and scored 4 runs.
The Rochester Red Wings don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Buffalo Bisons - Norfolk Tides series. That series is tied at 2 games apiece. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
