Spirited fans greeted the Portland Sea Dogs for their clash with the Hartford Yard Goats.

The Hartford Yard Goats had no problem beating the Portland Sea Dogs, 16-1, at Hadlock Field. David Pugmire led the way. He was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4 for Hartford. Ramon Mejia picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-0. He struck out 6 in 8 innings.

Early in the game, Pugmire had a 2-run home run for Hartford. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Yard Goats on top, 2-0.

"We got plowed under," said losing manager Dennis Owens. "Period. Full stop."

Hartford is now 2-1.
