Sea Dogs Nudge Past Mets, 9-8
The Portland Sea Dogs defeated the Binghamton Mets by the score of 9-8, with the biggest share of the credit going to second baseman Cody Bower. Bower went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Sea Dogs on the day. Portland reliever Tyler Ropson snagged the win, upping his record to 2-0. Alberto Chavez shouldered the loss. At 3-0, the Sea Dogs have played well so far.

The Sea Dogs were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth inning, when 23-year old shortstop Steve Degen landed a big blow. He turned a 2-2 changeup from Alberto Chavez into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent the Hadlock Field denizens into a frenzy and sent the Sea Dogs home with a thrilling 9-8 win.
